Well known for its extensive, and in some cases, exclusive shopping opportunities, the world's largest shopping mall is also home to a number of enjoying and thrilling pastimes.

Fancy a round of golf or want to try your hand at the gun range? Both opportunities are available within the Mall's expansive complex at Professor WEM's Adventure Golf and the Wild West Shooting Gallery respectively. Maybe you would prefer to hit the beach or conversely go for a skate. Then, bikini on up to the World Waterpark and catch a few waves, or head to the Ice Palace for a few laps around this NHL-sized ice rink. Movie buffs will get a charge out of the fire-breathing-dragon-fronted Silver City Theatres and adrenaline junkies can get their fix on Galaxyland's Mindbender - the world's largest triple loop indoor roller coaster.

For those after a slightly tamer but no less enthralling experience, museum and history buffs are not the only ones who will enjoy a visit to the nearby Royal Alberta Museum. Featuring a number of fascinating travelling exhibits throughout the year, this diverse museum's permanent exhibits like the Syncrude Gallery of Aboriginal Culture - one of North America's most expansive exhibitions on First Nations people; and Wild Alberta - an up-close-and-personal look at Alberta's wilderness and wildlife through amazing presentations and dioramas. And if you harbour a ghoulish fascination for creepy-crawlies, the Bug Room is a terrific way to get up-close-and-personal to the wonderful world of insects.

Fans of the heavens with come away with stars in their eyes after a trip to the Telus World of Science-Edmonton. Featuring five galleries of interactive displays and exhibits, this west end science centre includes an observatory, a state-of-the-art computer lab, the largest planetarium dome theatre in Canada and Western Canada's first IMAX Theatre. Take a stroll through Mystery Avenue where you get to play CSI and try to solve the crime of the day; gain a deeper understanding of Mother Nature in the Green's House, see the human body from the inside out in the Body Fantastic, and of course, explore the cosmos.
